The Gaokao Scores Are Out, and I Still Remember the Scolding We Got from Our Teacher
The Gaokao scores are out, and I suddenly remembered the scolding we got from our elementary school language teacher. At the time, we were all still young and naive, and we didn't understand what the teacher meant. However, as time passed, I gradually grasped the profound meaning behind the teacher's words.
I recall that day when the teacher scolded us, saying, "He doesn't even dare to smoke in front of you, I'm afraid of igniting this bunch of good-for-nothings." At the time, we all thought it was strange - why would the teacher say such a thing? But as it turned out, the teacher wasn't wrong. We were indeed "good-for-nothings" back then, with no idea which path to take in the future.
The teacher also said, "Even if the university walls were to collapse, you lot wouldn't be able to get in." At the time, we thought the teacher was just joking. But as it turned out, the teacher wasn't wrong. Many of us didn't get into university, and some didn't even graduate from high school.
Now that I've grown up and look back, I finally understand what the teacher meant. The teacher's words weren't meant to scold us, but to encourage us. The teacher hoped we would work harder and strive more. But back then, we were young and naive, with no idea how to strive or work hard.
Now, I've learned how to strive and work hard. Although I didn't get into university, I didn't give up. I kept learning and working hard. Although my path is tough, I haven't given up.
