The Health Ledger of Adults: Why We're Afraid of Getting Sick
When we were kids, we thought we were invincible. We could stay up all night playing games and still run 800 meters the next day, drink cold water, and eat spicy snacks without any issues. But now, it's a different story. A simple sneeze can throw out our back, and even drinking cold water feels like a betrayal to our stomachs. Last night, I discovered a bald spot on my head and was so scared that I booked an appointment with a specialist in the middle of the night.
The doctor took one look and said, "It's nothing, just maintain a regular schedule and you'll be fine." I wasn't satisfied: "Don't I need some strong supplements?" The doctor chuckled: "This is just natural aging, don't make a big deal out of it." It wasn't until I left the hospital that I realized why adults are afraid of getting sick. It's not because we're attached to the world's luxuries, but because we're shouldering mortgages, car loans, and the burden of providing for our families.
Adults are afraid of getting sick because in this realistic society, health is not just life, but also money. We're busy every day, working to earn a living, paying off debts, and maintaining our lifestyles. We don't have time to get sick, and we don't have time to rest. We can only keep working until our bodies completely break down.
I recall my past self, always thinking that health was a given. But now I understand that health requires our careful nurturing. We need regular sleep schedules, healthy diets, and moderate exercise. We need to take care of ourselves in order to better take care of our families and careers.
So, starting today, I've decided to take better care of myself. I won't stay up all night playing games or overeat. I'll start exercising every morning, eat healthy food, and maintain a regular schedule. I hope to live a long and healthy life, and truly enjoy my life.
