Eavesdropping on My Husband's Midnight Sweet Nothings
My husband has a habit that I find completely unexpected - he always whispers sweet nothings to me when I'm asleep. Usually, it's something like "baby, wife, I love you". I've caught him several times, but I was too tired to respond.
Last night, I decided to tease him and pretend to be asleep. Sure enough, he whispered passionately and softly, "sweetheart, I love you so much...". My heart was touched to death, and I opened my eyes, ready to give him a big hug.
But it turned out he was sending a voice message on WeChat! My arms were left hanging in the air, unsure whether to hug him or not. In the end, I pretended to stretch and turned over to sleep again. But deep down, I was still touched. At least he still cares about me, at least he still says these sweet things.
I think it's these small details that are the foundation of our relationship. Not the grand romantic gestures, but these unintentional displays of tenderness. So, I've decided that next time he does this, I'll respond to him and give him a big hug.
