Running into an Ex-Lover: An Awkward Reunion
I remember it was in 2015, back in my hometown, when I met a girl from the neighborhood. We chatted for a few days before deciding to meet up, and we ended up hooking up that same night. She was the one who took the initiative, and I was almost overwhelmed. We met up almost every night, either I'd drive to pick her up, or we'd go to a hotel in the county town, or find some secluded spot. But she never stayed over, so I'd have to send her back home every night.
Things didn't last long, though. Just a few days later, we were seen by someone while walking around the village, and they told my grandma. My grandma forbade me from seeing her, and when I asked why, she said we were distant relatives, and I was even a generation older than her, the same generation as her dad. I was stunned? I only then realized I had never asked about her family situation, and it turned out her family lived close to my grandma's, and we shared the same surname. But every time we met, it was like wildfire, and we never talked about that stuff. So, we broke up.
Since we were from the same village, we'd still run into each other on the road, but we barely spoke. Later, I met my current wife and moved to the county town, and I lost touch with her. Then last year, my wife said she had met a friend at the yoga studio, and she was coming over for dinner. When she arrived, oh boy, you know! But we pretended not to recognize each other and barely exchanged words. It was really awkward, especially considering we shared the same surname and were from the same village, and we still had to figure things out!
