The Hypocritical World of Human Relationships: True Feelings Buried, False Appearances Played Out
I attended my distant uncle's funeral, where my second uncle, who had been at odds with the deceased over a plot of land, was now wailing loudly in front of the coffin, his tears and snot almost falling into it. The relatives nearby were all praising my second uncle for his strong sense of loyalty and duty. I whispered to my dad, 'Didn't second uncle hate uncle to death?' My dad sneered, 'The dead don't need to fight over property, but the living cry so loudly for the benefit of the onlookers.'
I suddenly felt a chill run down my spine. It's not the most tragic thing that people forget about you after you're gone; what's most tragic is that no one cares about you when you're alive, but after you're dead, you're used as a cheap tool for the living to show off their morality. In this hypocritical world of human relationships, how many true feelings are buried, and how many false appearances are being played out?
I recalled my childhood days in the countryside. Neighbors would fight over trivial matters, but when someone passed away, they would all gather together to express their condolences. However, behind this show of mourning often lay complex webs of interests and human relationships.
In urban life, this phenomenon is even more prevalent. On the surface, people maintain harmonious relationships, but behind the scenes, they're full of intrigue and deception. In this kind of social environment, true feelings are buried, and false appearances become the norm.
I thought deeply about why we live in such a hypocritical world of human relationships. Is it because we're too focused on material benefits, or because we lack genuine communication?
Perhaps we need to re-examine our actions and attitudes. We need to express more true feelings and fewer false appearances. Only then can we build more genuine relationships and avoid losing ourselves in this hypocritical world.
