A Surprise in the Tunnel: A New Driver's Sudden Whim
Accompanying my girlfriend while she practices driving always leads to unexpected situations. Having just obtained her driver's license, she's still a bit nervous, especially when her driving skills aren't yet mature. As we approached a long tunnel, she suddenly asked me a question that caught me off guard.
"Honey, when we enter the tunnel, should I turn on the high beams?" she asked seriously, and I thought to myself, 'This is getting exciting.' Although I knew she was asking about the car lights, my brain automatically associated it with something else.
I swallowed hard, thinking about how to respond to this question. Finally, I stuttered, "Turn... turn them on, it's dark inside, and no one will see." I knew my response was a bit ambiguous, but I thought she should understand what I meant.
My girlfriend nodded, quickly flipped the turn signal, and turned on the high beams. I was just about to scold myself for having a dirty mind when she slammed on the brakes, stopping the car in the middle of the tunnel, and unbuckled her seatbelt to climb onto me.
"Is the light bright enough now? Help me find it, my contact lens fell on your thigh!" she asked me suddenly, and I snapped out of my fantasy, bursting into laughter. It turned out she just wanted me to help her find her contact lens, and it wasn't as complicated as I thought.
I helped her find the lens, and we continued driving. Although this driving practice was filled with unexpected events, I was still happy to be by her side. Accompanying my girlfriend while she practices driving not only improves her driving skills but also strengthens our relationship.
