Building a Personal News Radar with AI to Filter Out Information Noise
I used to scroll through dozens of websites, RSS feeds, Reddit, and Hacker News every day, only to find that truly valuable information was scarce. This made me wonder, where did the problem lie? Was it that there wasn't enough information? No, the internet is overflowing with information. The real issue was that there was too much noise, and it was hard to find the truly worthwhile content in the vast ocean of information.
Recently, I stumbled upon an open-source project on GitHub called Horizon, which aims to use AI to build a personalized news radar that automatically filters out the best content for you every day. I was deeply drawn to this project because it's not just a simple RSS aggregator, but a genuine information filter.
Horizon can aggregate information from multiple sources like RSS, GitHub, Hacker News, Reddit, Telegram, and X, and then use large models to remove duplicates, score, summarize, and provide background information, ultimately generating a bilingual daily briefing. It supports custom information sources, keyword filtering, and multiple AI models, which means you can fully customize your news radar according to your needs.
Compared to scrolling through a bunch of news apps every day, I prefer this approach. Using AI as an information filter rather than a content generator, it can filter out 90% of the content that's not worth reading and deliver the truly important news to you. This approach not only saves time but also allows you to more effectively obtain valuable information.
If you're interested in AI, development, technology, or open-source projects, this repository is worth bookmarking. The emergence of the Horizon project has given me hope for the future of information acquisition. Maybe one day, we can rely entirely on AI to help us find truly valuable information, avoid information noise, and acquire knowledge more efficiently.
