The Fear of Unemployment After Graduation: A Struggle for Survival in a Class-Driven Society
As a 22-year-old senior at a university in Hefei, I'm worried about the prospect of graduating into unemployment. My major may seem popular, but the competitive job market makes my future seem uncertain. My parents' divorce has also added to the pressure, and I can no longer rely on their support. I must fend for myself.
This concern is not unique to me; many university graduates are facing the same dilemma. The widening gap between the rich and the poor has made attending university no longer a guaranteed path to success. Many people attend university simply to meet their family's expectations, rather than to acquire skills that can support themselves.
I've seen many female graduates struggle to find jobs, only to be rejected time and time again. Some choose to pursue further education, hoping to increase their competitiveness, but this also means more debt and uncertainty. Others opt for entrepreneurship, but this path is fraught with unknowns and risks.
Faced with this predicament, I've decided to save some money to make my life more comfortable. Although this is not the ideal solution, it at least gives me some breathing room. At the same time, I'm continuously learning and improving myself, hoping to find a stable job and improve my quality of life.
I hope my story can raise awareness about the issue of unemployment after graduation. We need more job opportunities and vocational training to help graduates adapt to society. At the same time, we need to change our perception of attending university, encouraging more people to pursue careers they're truly interested in, rather than just meeting their family's expectations.
