The Labor and Time of the Poor: The Greatest Wealth of the Elite
What is the greatest wealth of the rich and powerful in this world? Is it money? No. Because money can be printed, and with a few extra zeros, anyone can become a billionaire, yet still live a life of poverty.
So why is everyone so interested in money? Because money can buy food, drinks, entertainment, and services. It can get people to massage you, cut your hair, deliver packages, and bring takeout to your doorstep.
By now, it should be clear that the greatest wealth of the elite is not money, but the labor and time of the poor. If everyone were to stop working, stop producing, and stop providing services, having money would be useless, because it couldn't be exchanged for anything of value.
A person's life is short, only about 70 years, and the time they can work is about 40 years. The value created during those 40 years, and the precious 480 months of life cycle, is the greatest wealth of the elite.
When we're busy with work and life, do we ever stop to think about what our efforts and sweat are for? Is it to earn more money? Or to create more value?
The answer is, our efforts and sweat are to create value, and our value is reflected in our labor and time, not measured by money. So, the next time we complain about how hard we work and how tired we are, we should remember that our labor and time are the real wealth.
