The Essence of Life: When We See the Impermanence
A cremator's reflection lets us see another side of life. He cremated 61 bodies in one day, and facing the harsh reality of death, he felt the impermanence and fragility of life. When we're alive, we're always concerned about our image, dignity, and happiness, but when life comes to an end, we realize that there's no difference between humans and other living beings after death.
The scenes at the crematorium make us feel the powerlessness and emptiness of life. We often worry about trivial things and hold grudges against others, but when we truly see the essence of life, we find that these worries are unnecessary. The Bodhi has no tree, the mirror is not a platform. Originally, there is nothing, so where does the dust come from? This famous Buddhist saying points out that our life is ultimately an empty space.
We often get caught up in negative emotions, holding grudges against certain people or things, but are these emotions worth it? Let's reflect on our childhood. We used to be anxious about not finishing our homework and cried bitterly when we lost a toy. Looking back now, those things seem ridiculous. Standing at the crossroads of life, we realize that everything we've done is insignificant.
All experiences are just experiences. Heartbreak, job loss, failure, being bullied, bullying others - it's all like a dream. Life is just the moment of experience, don't take it seriously. Happiness is in the present, the scenery in front of our eyes, the food in our bowls, and the people around us. These are what we should cherish.
