It's Harder to Change a Person Than to Make Them Do Anything: Lessons I've Learned
I once tried to help someone who had given up on life, hoping to motivate them to get back on their feet. Despite spending decades trying, I was unsuccessful. This experience taught me a valuable lesson: it's harder to change a person than to make them do anything. Unless they want to change themselves, no one can persuade them.
I still remember trying to convince someone who was striving to give up and take it easy. This person was an elder, and their attitude towards life was completely different from mine. Despite using all my persuasive skills, I couldn't change their lifestyle. This experience once again made me realize how difficult it is to change someone.
I started thinking, why is it so hard to change someone? Is it because each person's lifestyle and attitude are deeply ingrained and hard to change? Or is it because we're used to our own lifestyle and find it hard to accept new changes? These questions kept bothering me.
Later, I gradually understood that changing someone requires their own will and determination. Unless they want to change themselves, no external force can change them. This is a harsh reality, but it's a challenge we need to face.
Now, I no longer try to change others, but instead focus on my own life and growth. Because I know that changing myself is much easier than changing others. At the same time, I've learned to respect people's lifestyles and choices, believing that everyone has their own life wisdom.
