The Other Side of the Hiking Circle: A Showcase of Middle-Aged Men's Self-Presentation
The hiking circle is actually a bit of a mess... I've noticed an interesting phenomenon in a hiking group I'm in in Chengdu. There are 400 people in the group, all middle-aged men and women who have met at least twice on hikes. However, I've noticed that many of the men constantly post videos and photos of themselves exercising, striking cool poses.
To be honest, none of them are particularly handsome. They're either short, have big bellies, or have a strange gait, with some even walking with a swagger. They don't look great, so why are they trying to add beautiful women as friends in the group? I'm really puzzled - what are these men trying to express?
I think they might be trying to prove their worth through exercise, to show that they still have vitality. But is this approach really effective? I think they should focus more on their inner cultivation rather than just showing off their muscles on social media.
There are many middle-aged men in the hiking circle who are trying hard to prove themselves. But is their approach really effective? I think we should focus more on our inner cultivation rather than just showing off our muscles on social media. Only then can we truly find our value and meaning.
