How Embarrassing When Asked 'What Are We Now?'
I still remember the last time we went on a date, he suddenly asked me, 'What are we now?' My mind went completely blank, and I thought to myself, 'Oh my god, how did this happen to me?!'
I tried to remain calm and asked him why he had such a question. He said he felt our relationship was strange, not like ordinary friends, but not like a couple either. At that moment, I was really confused and didn't know how to respond.
After some thought, I told him I felt our relationship was special and didn't need a definition. He seemed to breathe a sigh of relief after hearing my response, and we continued chatting. Looking back, that conversation was indeed embarrassing, but it also made me realize that our relationship is truly unique.
I started thinking, why don't we need to define our relationship? Is it because we both have open personalities, or because we both enjoy this uncertain feeling? I think it's because our relationship is real, and we don't need a definition to constrain ourselves.
