The 'Lost Homework' Incident of Internet Celebrity Cat: Why Are We So Angry?
I've been thinking about a question recently. Why did a story about a primary school student in France losing their homework and being scolded by the media cause such a huge backlash against internet celebrity Cat?
I don't understand why everyone is so angry. Even if the story was fabricated, who did it hurt? Yes, some people might think it's a form of 'rumor-mongering,' but to me, it's just a harmless joke.
Perhaps people are angry because they feel the story is 'untrue.' But in the age of social media, aren't we all creating and sharing our own stories? Do we each have to be responsible for our own experiences and feelings?
I think the reason Cat's story was shut down is that it touched on our fear of 'fakeness.' We're afraid of being deceived, and we're afraid of being misled. However, in the world of social media, the line between reality and fiction has become extremely blurred.
Perhaps we should try to understand and accept this blurriness instead of trying to define and restrict it. After all, in this world, each of us is the creator of our own story.
