The Desire to Control in Mother-in-Law and Daughter-in-Law Relationships: Who Tries to Interfere with the Other's Life is in the Wrong
Recently, while chatting with a friend, we discussed the topic of mother-in-law and daughter-in-law relationships. My friend said that sometimes it's hard to determine who's right and who's wrong in these relationships. After listening to her, I shared my opinion: it's actually quite simple - just look at who tries to interfere with the other's life. The one who tries to interfere is the one in the wrong. It's that simple.
I know my friend might think my answer is too simplistic, but I truly believe it's the most direct and effective way to determine who's right and who's wrong in these relationships. Because interfering with someone's life means you don't trust their judgment and abilities, which is a sign of disrespect and distrust.
In mother-in-law and daughter-in-law relationships, the mother-in-law often interferes with the daughter-in-law's life, such as constantly asking questions, criticizing her methods, or even interfering with her decisions. This behavior makes the daughter-in-law feel uncomfortable and disrespected. Similarly, the daughter-in-law may also interfere with the mother-in-law's life, such as constantly telling her what to do and what's right. This behavior also makes the mother-in-law feel uncomfortable and disrespected.
So, in mother-in-law and daughter-in-law relationships, whoever tries to interfere with the other's life is in the wrong. Because interfering with someone's life means you don't trust their judgment and abilities, which is a sign of disrespect and distrust. We should learn to respect each other's decisions and choices, and give each other enough space and freedom. Only then can we build true trust and understanding.
