Kindness Without a Sharp Edge is Stupidity: Don't Let Scammers Take Advantage
Recently, a woman in Beijing found her account suddenly credited with 280,000 yuan. The sender then contacted her, claiming it was a mistaken transfer and begged her to return the money. Most people might have fallen for it, thinking that being a good person means being generous, and would have immediately transferred the money back. However, this woman was cautious and checked with her bank, only to discover that the transfer was made using her exact name and account number. With today's transfer mechanisms, it's nearly impossible for a stranger to make a mistaken transfer.
It wasn't until she reported the incident to the police that she realized the true extent of the scam. The police revealed that the money was likely borrowed using her identity, and by returning the money, she would have been putting the scammers' ill-gotten gains directly into their pockets. I had a friend who worked in foreign trade and was also scammed into transferring money due to his 'kindness.' As a result, his account was frozen for half a year, and his business almost went under.
In this era of endless scams, kindness without a sharp edge is just stupidity. Remember, without a court judgment, it's best to leave the money in your account untouched. The saying goes that 'free lunch' often comes with hidden traps. We need to be vigilant and not let scammers take advantage of us.
