Humiliating Memories: The Story of How I Won My Father-in-Law's Respect
I still remember the first time I visited my wife's home, her father directly threw the cigarettes and liquor I brought outside. At that time, I felt the most humiliated. I didn't say a word, ate at the table on time, and slept in the living room that night. This persistence lasted for half a month.
However, I didn't give up. I quietly made some changes, including getting rid of the condoms, and as a result, my wife became pregnant. Although my father-in-law was still angry, he at least nodded in approval. Looking back, those days were really tough, but I endured them just to prove a point.
Later, I started helping with the farm work at my father-in-law's house, doing chores every day, and learned all the tasks I had never done in my previous twenty years. Now, my father-in-law is almost ninety and suffering from Alzheimer's, but among the five sons-in-law, he only recognizes me. I think it's because of the efforts and contributions I made for his family.
Now, when I look back on those days, I think my decision at the time was correct. Although I was humiliated, I proved myself, and I won my father-in-law's respect.
