I once dated a boyfriend and visited his home, but we broke up shortly after. I remember it was a hot day when I visited, and I saw a woman sweating, with swollen feet and a big belly, busily working alone in the kitchen. My boyfriend introduced her, saying, 'This is my sister-in-law.' I smiled and called out, 'Sister-in-law.' Because their kitchen and living room were adjacent, I opened the kitchen door to let the air conditioning from the living room cool the kitchen, so his sister-in-law could feel more comfortable. However, his mother immediately said, 'Close the kitchen door so the oil fumes don't enter the living room.' I didn't say anything at the time. After the meal was ready, his sister-in-law fed their three-year-old daughter, and no one offered to help, letting the pregnant woman eat later. The child ate slowly, playing while eating, and by the time everyone else had finished, his sister-in-law started eating the leftover dishes. His parents finished eating and went to drink tea. I politely offered to help his sister-in-law with the dishes, but no one stopped me or offered to help. After finishing the dishes, I saw that the living room had water spilled by the child and some melon seeds on the floor. His sister-in-law silently took the broom to sweep the floor. The most infuriating part came when, just as she was about to finish sweeping the floor, his father said, while drinking tea, 'Oh, you're pregnant, don't tire yourself out, rest for a while.' I felt at the time that this comment was not comforting her, but rather mocking her? As soon as I got home, I sent a message to my boyfriend to break up. Because from his sister-in-law, I saw my future married life. I'm also grateful that I visited his home that time and grateful that I avoided further trouble.
