The Intergenerational Impact of Incarceration: A Shocking College Entrance Exam Story
How much of an impact can a prison sentence really have? I was forced to think about this question after reading an old news article. The story was about a high school student who had excellent grades, scoring 702 points, leading his family to believe he was a shoo-in for admission to the National University of Defense Technology. However, he failed to pass the review, and it was only then that it was revealed that his grandfather had been incarcerated in his youth. This news was a secret even his father didn't know, and it shocked the entire family. The 172cm-tall girl cried like a child!!
This story raises many questions. Does a prison sentence really have such a significant impact? Why does it have such a big influence? Is it due to social discrimination or family pressure? How should we view this issue?
Firstly, we need to understand the impact of incarceration on a family. Incarceration is not just a punishment for the individual, but also a blow to the entire family. It affects the family's reputation, the child's growth, and even the future of the entire clan. How long will this impact last? Will it affect the next generation?
Secondly, we need to think about the issue of social discrimination. Why is incarceration seen as a shame? Why is it rejected by society? How can we change this perception? How can we help people who have been incarcerated reintegrate into society and start anew?
Lastly, we need to think about the pressure on families. Why didn't the child's father know about his grandfather's incarceration? Why was this a secret? How should we face this pressure? How can we make family members more open and honest with each other?
