The Phenomenon of Favoring Sons Over Daughters: A Girl's Helplessness and Hope
I'm a 21-year-old girl from Hangzhou, currently studying fine arts at a university. Growing up, my family was well-off, and I was spoiled as a child. However, as I grew older, I began to notice a change in my family's attitude towards me. They stopped providing me with tuition and living expenses, forcing me to take on part-time jobs to support myself.
I know I'm not the only one facing this issue. The phenomenon of favoring sons over daughters is still prevalent in our society. Some parents believe that daughters will eventually marry into another family, so they should save their money for their sons to inherit the family business. This mindset leaves me feeling helpless and disappointed. If they're not willing to support me, why didn't they tell me from the start? At least then I could have prepared myself and sought out opportunities on my own, rather than having my financial support suddenly cut off.
I hope everyone can have a happy and fulfilling family life. If you don't have that, I hope you won't lose hope. Remember, your worth shouldn't be defined by your family background. You have the right to pursue your dreams and create your own happiness.
