The Happy Secret to Financially Separate Spouses
Yesterday, my wife and I were discussing how Ruan Yingying lost two hundred million yuan that belonged to Zou Shiming! This news left us both in awe for a long time. Actually, from the moment we started earning money, we chose to keep our finances basically separate. At the time, this approach seemed a bit unconventional, but now we both think it was a very correct decision.
Looking back, my wife didn't fully understand why I insisted on this at first. As time went by, she gradually felt the benefits of this approach. We've both made some small investments, and although we've lost more than we've gained overall, we've never fought about money. Because we're both clear that this is our own decision, our own responsibility, and if we lose money, we'll take the hit ourselves and comfort each other.
This financial independence has not only given us more autonomy in our investments but also made our consumption more carefree. Buying gifts feels more genuine because it's really my own money I'm spending on you, haha, it's pretty good...
Of course, this approach doesn't mean we don't need to communicate at all. We regularly discuss each other's financial situations to ensure we're both spending within a reasonable range. But we won't feel unnecessary pressure or conflict because of each other's spending.
Looking back, this approach of financial separation has really made our marriage more harmonious. We can each do what we like without unnecessary conflicts over money.
