Why People Who Never Rest Are Always Poor and Miserable?
A person is poor because they don't know how to rest. A person is miserable because they don't know how to rest. A person's mind is dull because they don't know how to rest. At first glance, this statement seems counterintuitive, but upon closer inspection, you'll discover the profound wisdom behind it. We often equate busyness and hard work with success, but in reality, excessive busyness and striving can lead to more losses.
The Buddhist practice of meditation and the Taoist practice of sitting in stillness are essentially about teaching people to rest first. Resting is not laziness or indulgence, but a wise choice. Through rest, we can recover and recharge our minds and bodies, enabling us to better cope with life's and work's challenges.
Look at the ordinary people in this world, they have a fundamental characteristic: they don't like to rest, they don't know how to rest, and they don't understand rest. They're always busy, always striving, and exhausting themselves to the point of illness, poverty, and misery. They think they must constantly be busy to achieve success and happiness, but in fact, this busyness may cause them to lose even more.
If someone wants to become wise, strong, and have a good life, they must first learn to rest. Resting is not a simple thing; it requires you to consciously slow down and learn to enjoy life. Only when you learn to rest can you work better, solve problems more efficiently, and achieve true happiness and success.
