The Art of 'Unfinished' Conversation: How to Make Dialogue More Engaging
I recently discovered a useful detail while using Soul chat. When discussing hobbies, I mentioned a recent experience of mine, but didn't finish the story in one go. Instead, I said, 'This thing got really crazy later, I'll tell you another time.' She actually asked me to continue, and our conversation naturally carried over to the next day.
Many people like to cover all the content in one conversation, resulting in not knowing what to talk about the next day. Although this approach seems efficient, it can make conversations dull and monotonous. When you finish telling everything at once, you'll have nothing to say next time.
On the other hand, leaving an unfinished topic can give both parties a reason to continue communicating. This method not only makes conversations more engaging but also brings the relationship closer. When you leave an unfinished topic, the other person will feel curious and expectant, naturally wanting to continue the conversation.
Suspense is not a trick, but leaving space for conversation. As long as it's genuine and not forced, the rhythm will be more comfortable. Think about it, when you're chatting and suddenly say 'I'll tell you next time,' won't the other person feel strange and disappointed? But if you say 'This thing got really crazy later, I'll tell you another time,' won't they feel curious and expectant?
So, next time you chat, don't cover everything at once. Leave an unfinished topic and give the other person a reason to continue the conversation. Trust me, your conversations will be more engaging, and your relationship will be closer.
