_DISABLED SENIORS AND CHRONIC DISEASES: THE COST OF OBSTINACY
As someone who cares about the health of the elderly, I often think about the challenges faced by disabled seniors. Many disabled seniors suffer from multiple chronic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes, which gradually weaken their bodies and often lead to overall physical decline. This situation not only brings great suffering to the elderly themselves but also imposes a heavy burden on their children.
I have noticed that some elderly people are particularly stubborn, thinking that 'doctors are all liars' and 'porridge nourishes the stomach.' As a result, not only do they suffer themselves, but they also bring great burden to their children. This stubborn attitude not only causes them to miss the best treatment opportunities but also worsens their health conditions. As children, how can we help our parents get rid of such stubborn ideas and accept reasonable medical treatment?
I think that first, we need to understand the thoughts and concerns of the elderly. They may feel that their bodies are already very weak and do not want to receive more treatment. Or, they may feel that doctors do not understand their bodies and cannot provide effective help. As children, we need to patiently listen to their thoughts and help them understand the importance of medical care.
Secondly, we need to help the elderly find suitable medical resources. We can accompany them to see doctors, help them understand their health conditions and treatment plans. We can also help them find community resources, such as elderly health centers and medical care services. Through these efforts, we can help the elderly receive better medical services and improve their health conditions.
