The Charm of Apple Computers: Why I'm So Fond of Them
Last night, my husband asked me, 'Why do you like Apple computers so much?' I was taken aback by the question and simply replied that it's because they're easy to use. He followed up by asking, 'What's so complicated about Windows? Office files switch smoothly too.' He pointed out that Apple computers are much more expensive, so what makes them worth it?
I tried to explain, but I realized I couldn't quite put my finger on why. I just feel like they're easy to use and comfortable. My husband seemed a bit unhappy with my response, thinking I should have a better reason for choosing Apple. He thought I should be able to explain why Apple is superior.
I was a bit unhappy too. I felt like my liking for Apple should be enough. Why do I need to have a reason for my choice? Can't I just choose based on my feelings? I started thinking, why do we always need a rational reason to explain our choices? Can't we just like something for its own sake?
I remembered how, in the past, I would always come up with a reason to justify buying something. Now I realize that those reasons were just excuses. The real reason is that I like it. Liking something is a feeling, an intuition, something that can't be explained.
I've decided to stop making excuses for my choices. I like Apple computers, and that's it. My husband might not understand, but I don't need his understanding. All I need is my own feelings, my own likes.
