The Rise and Fall of Families: Uncovering the Hidden Rules Behind 'Dream of the Red Chamber'
Over 300 years have passed, yet people are still discussing 'Dream of the Red Chamber'. Why has this book endured for so long? I believe the answer lies in the harsh rule it reveals: while wealth can make a family prosper, only spirit, rules, and ability can ensure its long-term survival.
We often see families rise to power because of their wealth, only to decline soon after. This is because when they lose their financial backing, they lose their foundation. In contrast, families that prioritize spirit, rules, and ability can find the motivation to survive and thrive even in times of poverty.
The Jia family in 'Dream of the Red Chamber' is a classic example. They once possessed immense wealth and status, but ultimately declined due to internal conflicts, moral decay, and lack of ability. In contrast, characters like Lin Daiyu and Xue Baochai, although not as wealthy, stood firmer in adversity thanks to their spirit and ability.
This rule applies not only to families but also to individuals. We often hear that 'money can make the devil grind', but in reality, money is not omnipotent. Only when we possess strong spirit, rules, and ability can we truly achieve our goals and realize our value.
