My Friend's Flirting Caught Me Off Guard
This morning, I ran into a friend I hadn't seen in a long time, and we chatted about our recent lives. When I mentioned my happy life with my partner, my friend brought up seeing my posts on Little Red Book and noticing how well my partner and I get along. They even mentioned seeing comments from others saying they liked my partner and asked if I get jealous. I replied that I don't, and that I think it's great when everyone likes the same person, so we can all hang out together.
My friend asked me, 'Really? You're okay with that?' I'd never expected him to be so direct, so I replied, 'Do you want to?' He laughed and said he was just joking, but I could tell he was actually flirting. Sure enough, after we parted ways, he messaged me on WeChat, asking if I wanted to try something. I said sure, but I didn't expect him to suggest meeting up that day.
I feel like my friend's flirting caught me off guard. Although he said he was joking, I could tell he was serious. I started thinking about whether our friendship would change because of this, and whether our relationship would become more complicated.
I think maybe my friend was just joking around or trying to gauge my reaction. Either way, this experience has given me a new perspective on friendship. I realize that friendships can be complex and multifaceted too.
