The Price of Secrecy: Why Sharing Secrets Makes You Vulnerable
We all have secrets, hidden deep within us, that we don't want others to know. Some secrets may be about our past, about the fears and desires that lie deep within our hearts. Some secrets may be about our current lives, about our relationships with others. Whatever the secret may be, we all know that once it's shared, we lose control.
Many times, we're tempted to share our secrets, especially when we feel like someone can understand us or help us share the burden. We tell ourselves that sharing with just one person won't be a big deal. But in reality, this thinking is misguided. Once a secret is shared, it's like handing over our Achilles' heel to someone else.
Betrayal often begins with a single sentence: 'I'm only telling you.' This phrase may sound harmless, but in reality, it's the beginning of the end of our self-protection. When we share our secrets, we lose control over ourselves and our ability to protect ourselves. By sharing our secrets with others, we're essentially handing over our fate to them.
So, secrets are like a double-edged sword. They can protect us, but they can also hurt us. We need to learn how to protect our secrets and control our desire to share. Only then can we truly protect ourselves and our secrets.
