Is Lending Money to Others Worth It?
I remember a time when a colleague of mine needed money urgently and borrowed 20,000 yuan from me. At the time, I didn't think much of it and just lent him the money. He said he would go to the bank the next day to withdraw the money and then transfer it back to me. Sure enough, the next day he returned the money to me, but when he did, he only transferred 19,980 yuan. I was a bit puzzled - why was there a discrepancy of 20 yuan?
I asked him what was going on, and his response left me stunned. He said that when I lent him the money through WeChat, there was a 20-yuan withdrawal fee, so he had only borrowed 19,980 yuan and thought he had already cleared his debt. Although I felt a bit awkward, I didn't get angry because I thought the 20 yuan wasn't worth arguing over.
However, the incident left a deep impression on me. Apparently, some people will quibble over 20 yuan. Although his attitude towards returning the money was good, his behavior still made me feel uncomfortable. So, I'd like to share my feelings with everyone: some favors are not worth doing, and some money is not worth lending. Because some people will lose their principles and credit over a small amount of money.
Therefore, when lending money to others or helping them, make sure to be cautious and not be deceived by their superficial behavior. Because some people may sell out their principles and credit for a small amount of money.
