The Dilemma of Love and Transaction: Why We're Always Chasing the Other Half
People always seek meaning in transactions and prices in love. This statement may sound cruel, but upon closer inspection, you'll find it's true. In transactions, we're not just looking for material satisfaction, but also emotional recognition and security. In love, we're always trying to calculate the 'price' of this emotion, attempting to measure the value of love with money.
The more we use money to buy relationships, the more we yearn for the other person 'not because of money'. This contradictory psychology is especially common in modern society. While people enjoy material abundance, they crave genuine and pure emotions. However, when we try to buy love with money, we inevitably question the other person's sincerity. This doubt makes us feel insecure, leading us to desire more material guarantees.
On the other hand, the more we're together for love, the more we can't help but calculate 'whether it's worth it'. Even when we find a genuine emotion, we still unconsciously measure the 'value' of this love. This measurement may come in the form of time, energy, money, or other forms of investment. We always hope that our investment will yield a corresponding return, which again puts us in the trading mode of love.
Essentially, humans are forever chasing the half they lack. This is human nature – we always yearn for what we don't have. This pursuit may be material or emotional. In love, we're not just chasing the other person's body, but also their soul and heart.
Transactions lack sincerity, and sincerity lacks guarantees. In this world where material desires reign, it's increasingly difficult to find true love. Transactions can provide material guarantees, but they struggle to bring about sincere communication and understanding. True love requires both parties to invest and understand each other, but this investment always comes with risk and uncertainty.
No one can have both certainty and a sense of excitement at the same time. This is the paradox of love. We always try to find certainty and security in love, but this pursuit will make us lose the sense of excitement. Only when we bravely face uncertainty can we truly experience the beauty of love.
