Letting Go of the Self to Find the True Self
I read this sentence every day: Let go of the self to find the true self. This simple sentence contains profound philosophy. It tells us that to find our true selves, we must let go of our selves. This 'self' refers to the obsessions, biases, and preconceived notions deep within our hearts.
Why let go of the self? Because the self is a constraint that limits our vision and thinking. When we are attached to our own ideas and perspectives, we lose our objective judgment and cannot see the true face of things. Letting go of the self means letting go of these constraints, opening our hearts, and accepting the true nature of things.
Letting go of the self also means not resisting everything and not worrying about the future. We often suffer because of our own expectations and worries. When we let go of the self, we will no longer be troubled by these things. We will be like Zen masters, responding to things as they come, and letting go of things as they go. When chopping wood, just chop wood. When carrying water, just carry water. In this way, we can find inner peace and freedom.
Letting go of the self does not mean giving up our ideals and pursuits. On the contrary, it means that we pursue our goals with a clearer and more objective attitude. We must let go of our biases and obsessions, accept the true nature of things, and learn and grow. Only then can we find our true selves and realize our values.
