How to Identify Real and Fake Mineral Water, Don't Get Ripped Off!
Summer is here, and our homes are filled with box after box of water. I used to never pay attention to the fine print on the bottle, I'd just twist it open and drink. But today, I had some free time and took a closer look - and what I found shocked me.
GB19298, the national standard, is just a fancy way of saying "disinfected tap water". That's right, it's just tap water that's been filtered and disinfected, then sold to you in a bottle. The names might sound impressive, like "XX Mountain Spring" or "XX Pure Water", but in reality, it's no different from the water that comes out of your faucet at home.
Take Wahaha, for example, which has the standard GB17323. This one is even more straightforward - it's just "pure water", purified to the point where there are no minerals left, just H₂O. It might quench your thirst, but don't expect it to provide any real nutritional value. Some of their products have the standard GB17323, while others have a private standard that starts with the letter Q, but at the end of the day, they're all just "pure water".
So what's the real deal? Look for these two standards: GB8537 and GBT20349. The former is for natural mineral water, which requires a natural underground source and minerals; the latter is for high-grade natural mineral water, with even stricter standards and higher quality.
In simple terms, the two bucks you spent might only be worth the cost of the bottle and filtration. And the five bucks you spent might not even get you real spring water, but rather just tap water from a different factory. So, brothers and sisters, next time you buy water, flip the bottle over and check the standard. GB19298 is tap water, GB17323 is pure water, and GB8537 is the real deal - natural mineral water.
Don't waste your money on fake mineral water and end up drinking tap water instead.
