I still remember my history teacher telling us in middle school that 90% of our destiny is predetermined from the moment we're born, and that our efforts can only change about 10%. At the time, I scoffed at this idea, thinking that a teacher shouldn't be spreading such a pessimistic view in class. Young and arrogant, I believed that my destiny was entirely in my own hands, and that with enough effort, I could change everything. But now, as I approach middle age, I've come to realize that my teacher's words were wise. With age, I've started to understand that a part of our destiny is indeed unchangeable. Whether it's our family background, genetics, or early life experiences, these factors can have a profound impact on our lives. Some people may be born with a better starting line, with more resources and opportunities, while others have to struggle in tougher environments. But this doesn't mean we should give up trying. Although our efforts can only change 10% of our destiny, that small percentage can be the most important part of our lives. It can be the key to achieving our dreams, or the motivation to overcome difficulties. So, even if we can't change 90% of our destiny, we should still strive to change that 10%. Because in doing so, we not only change our own destiny, but also grow into better versions of ourselves. Some truths can only be understood through personal experience. Just like how I used to dismiss my teacher's words, it wasn't until I experienced more of life's ups and downs that I truly understood the mysteries of destiny. So, to my young friends, don't think you already know it all. Go out and explore, see and experience more. Because only a life that's been truly lived is a meaningful one.
