That Night's Pedestrian Journey: Regret, Temptation, and a Stomachache
The experience of that night was like a plague, with an inescapable sense of regret that lingered in my mind. July 22nd, a night that was supposed to be ordinary, became a pedestrian journey because I missed the last direct train. The two-hour long journey was a test of my endurance and determination.
Along the way, I encountered not a gang or a thug, but a roadside barbecue stall. The tempting aroma and delicious food were too much for me to resist, and I succumbed to my hunger. I stopped to eat, and afterwards, I was consumed by regret. Why did I eat? Why did I stop?
As I continued walking home, I couldn't help but think that if I had resisted the temptation, even for just ten more minutes, things would have been different. But alas, humans have weaknesses, and I am no exception. The barbecue's flavor and aroma had conquered my resolve. Now, my stomach was filled not only with food but also with regret and remorse.
After returning home, I even considered going to the hospital to get my stomach pumped, to erase the memory, to empty my stomach. But it was too late, and regret was futile. The lesson from this pedestrian journey will stay with me, and I hope to make better choices next time.
