Sexual Arousal: An Overlooked Emotional Education
Recently, I've noticed that many people are unclear about sexual arousal, and the core issue is that they don't know what it is or how it feels. This realization made me aware of a problem - our emotional education is severely lacking. For instance, many people can't even distinguish between anger and resentment, let alone recognize the feelings associated with sexual arousal.
Sexual arousal requires emotional education, but this education is virtually non-existent. No one tells you what physical signals to expect when you're aroused, or how similar these sensations can be to feelings of tension or anxiety. As a result, many people not only suppress their emotions but also lack the language to describe them - without language, emotions remain vague and are easily overlooked.
Physiological arousal and subjective feelings don't always sync up, and the lack of emotional language makes it even harder to recognize this gap, let alone bridge it. So, how can we better understand and express our own feelings of sexual arousal?
I believe that we need to develop a better understanding of our bodies and emotions. Recognizing our physical signals and emotional responses can help us identify and express our feelings of sexual arousal more effectively. At the same time, we need to discuss and learn more about sexual arousal, including relevant knowledge and skills, in order to take control of our sex lives.
