If we forget that humans are animals, we will never truly understand human nature and history. This issue seems simple, but it is the key to understanding human behavior. We are often taught to respect others, follow morals and laws, but we sometimes forget that we are also animals. We have the same basic needs and instincts as other animals, although we have evolved complex societies and cultures. The most fundamental instincts of animals are survival and reproduction. Extended to humans, these are money and sex. Money is a survival resource, and sex is a reproductive opportunity. Marriage, morals, politics, and culture are all superficial, designed to package the cruel essence of survival of the fittest in a more dignified and appealing way. We often mistake these superficialities for truth, but in reality, they are just tools we use to disguise our animal nature. Money and sex are the most basic driving forces in our lives. We work for money, and we love and hate for sex. We are often led by these basic needs, even if we don't admit it. We sacrifice our happiness for money, and we hurt others for sex. We rationalize these behaviors, telling ourselves we are doing the right thing, but in reality, we are just following our animal instincts. Understanding humanity's animal nature does not mean we should abandon our civilization and morals. On the contrary, it means we should be more honest with ourselves and others. We should acknowledge our animal instincts and find ways to balance them with our civilized needs. Only then can we truly understand human nature, history, and create a better future.
