The 'Accidental Injury' from My Wife's Yoga Class
My wife has recently become obsessed with going to the gym to practice yoga, and every evening she comes back exhausted. As her husband, I'm happy for her on one hand, but on the other hand, I'm worried that she might be overdoing it. On Friday evening, after my wife took a bath and lay down on the bed, I gave her a massage on her legs out of sympathy. When I reached her knees, I found that they were bruised, with obvious swelling and hematoma.
I frowned and asked my wife, 'How did your yoga instructor teach you? What pose could cause such a severe bruise on your kneecap?' My wife's eyes darted around, 'It was just... just a normal kneeling stretch, the yoga mat was too thin.' I remained silent for a while, recalling the human anatomy I had learned before. If it were a static kneeling pose, the stress point should be the tibial tuberosity. The bruise on my wife's kneecap was right in the center, which was a sign of high-frequency and high-force impact.
I wondered what kind of yoga class my wife was taking. Various possibilities flashed through my mind. My wife seemed unaware of my concern, continuing to lie there and enjoy the massage. As her husband, what should I do? Should I continue the massage or investigate her yoga class?
I decided to continue the massage to relieve her fatigue. At the same time, I started thinking about how to ensure my wife's safety while practicing yoga. Should I accompany her to the class? Or should I find a more professional yoga instructor for her? These questions lingered in my mind.
