Survival Guide for the Workplace: Don't Let Excessive Responsibility Crush You
We often hear people say that work pressure is high, and the competition is fierce, but how can we succeed in our careers? However, we often overlook a more crucial question: how can we maintain our physical and mental health in the workplace? Many people have experienced this: although work can be busy, what really causes stress is not the work itself, but an excessive sense of responsibility.
Imagine if you treated your company's affairs as your life's mission - wouldn't you feel a tremendous amount of pressure? Wouldn't you sacrifice your rest time, social life, and even your health for work? If you do this, wouldn't you feel exhausted, anxious, and even desperate?
Maintaining a sense of boundaries is extremely important. As working professionals, we need to clearly define our scope of responsibilities, do our jobs well, and not treat the company's affairs as our own. This can help us avoid overwork and maintain our sense of self-identity and self-respect.
Long-term self-exploitation is extremely dangerous. Although you may think that your company will remember your contributions, the truth is often not the case. A company's goal is profit, not employee happiness. So, if you don't take care of yourself, you may find that you're being sacrificed by the company.
So, how can we avoid being crushed by an excessive sense of responsibility? First, you need to clarify your priorities. Your health, family, and friends are all more important than work. Second, you need to learn to say 'no.' If you've already done your job, don't take on more responsibilities. Finally, you need to find your hobbies and interests. This way, you can find happiness and a sense of accomplishment outside of work.
