Shame: A Tool of Social Conditioning
Shame is a tool of social conditioning, a truth that can be uncomfortable to confront. From a young age, we're taught that certain desires are 'bad', and as a result, we automatically feel shame when we experience them. This shame can effectively reduce impulsive behavior and make society more 'civilized', but it also leads many people to feel divided and self-loathing towards their natural desires for their entire lives.
Imagine if you were taught from a young age that your desires were wrong. How would you view your body and your sensuality? Would you feel like your desires were dirty and needed to be hidden? This shame can lead to feelings of loneliness and pain, making it impossible to share your feelings and desires with others.
But why are we taught that our desires are wrong? Why can't we accept our natural desires? Is it because society needs us to follow certain rules and norms? Or is it because we need to be conditioned to be 'good people'? These questions are worth exploring.
If we can't accept our desires, we'll end up misunderstanding and hurting ourselves and others. We need to learn how to accept and respect our natural desires, and how to share our feelings and desires with others. This requires us to bravely face our shame and express our true feelings.
