In reality, 8%vol means that every 100 milliliters of wine contains 8 milliliters of pure alcohol. This reveals that the relationship between the label and the actual alcohol content is not as straightforward as we thought.
Let's do a quick calculation: a 500 milliliter bottle of 8%vol wine contains approximately the same amount of pure alcohol as 100 milliliters of 40° wine. This might come as a surprise, as it turns out that the wine we drink regularly contains a significant amount of alcohol.
