The Short Game of Soulful Relationships: How to Maintain the Act
In relationships where people are connected by their soulful labels, both parties are sensitive and walking the moral line. Every interaction is a test, trying to find each other's boundaries. Once, I saw her post on Soul: 'I'm feeling like being hugged tonight.' I messaged her, 'I can pretend to hug you for a night,' and she replied, 'Pretending is fine too.' We started with pretending and chatted for three whole weeks, gradually getting closer until we defaulted to a short-term relationship.
In short-term relationships, chatting needs to be more ambiguous, not too straightforward. Even sending a daily message about the weather is part of maintaining the act. Invitations must involve spending money and meeting in person for a meal first, rather than directly asking to meet up at a hotel. My longest short-term relationship in the past worked out because I always suggested meeting at a park for an hour before naturally transitioning to something else.
Short-term relationships are multi-threaded games. If she finds a better option, you'll be out of the game prematurely. That's why I got deleted by her. After thinking it through, I realized that in soulful relationships, people are more easily attracted but also more easily hurt.
In these relationships, people always try to find a balance between maintaining attraction and avoiding hurt. That's why chatting needs to be ambiguous, dating needs to involve spending money, and the relationship needs to remain ambiguous. Only then can you navigate short-term relationships with ease.
