I still remember that night when I was browsing Soul and stumbled upon her midnight radio text. I suddenly felt an urge and initiated a conversation in her hole-in-the-wall. We chatted from her wall to making plans to meet up. Two weeks later, she suddenly said 'I want to see you,' and I replied 'My room is ready, want to come over?' I thought this time I would finally get what I wanted, but she ended up blocking me. Reflecting on that experience, I realized that in Soul's special relationships, both parties are on the moral edge. Even if it's just a short-term thing, you can't be too clear about what you want in chat. Being vague is safer. You have to appear occasionally, performing the relationship. When inviting someone over, you have to suggest eating out first, spending money, and giving the other person an out. You can't directly ask them to a hotel room. Looking back on my previous successful experience, it was because we always ate hot pot before naturally heading to the hotel. Short-term relationships aren't a one-player game. If the other person meets someone they want to get serious with, you'll be ended prematurely. So, you have to be constantly on guard, not too proactive, and not too passive. My experience finding a temporary hole-in-the-wall on Soul made me realize the complexity of human nature and the fragility of relationships. Everyone has their own needs and concerns. Finding a balance is key.
